Teach-Out Plan
Due to financial circumstances, Clarks Summit University’s Board of Trustees has made the difficult and painful decision to begin the process of closure. CSU, including Baptist Bible Seminary, is unable to offer classes starting in the fall of 2024. For students presently enrolled in summer 2024 session courses, courses will continue until completion.
CSU is committed to helping students navigate this decision as they seek to smoothly transition to another university to continue their education.
Teach-Out Plan
CSU’s comprehensive teach-out plan safeguards students’ academic progress through this unexpected and difficult circumstance. CSU has collaborated with Liberty University and Cairn University in creating this teach-out plan to aid our students. This ensures students have a clear path forward through graduation, even though it cannot be accomplished as planned at CSU.
The teach-out plans are agreements between CSU and Cairn University and between CSU and Liberty University. Those schools will accept all credits earned at CSU (with some conditions), so the student can continue in their original timeline towards the pursuit of a degree. These agreements make the transfer process more streamlined for students and in most cases, give students the best way forward for completing the degree the started. Both Liberty and Cairn are offering a simplified admission process for our established students and applicants.
This teach-out plan applies to all students who have already begun their studies at CSU. It does not apply to those who were planning to start in the Fall 2024 semester or later; however both established and incoming students can take advantage of the simplified admissions process offered by both Liberty and Cairn.
Transfer Process
Students are encouraged to consider other colleges and universities that hold the same values and beliefs as CSU.
Students should have their FAFSA results sent as soon as possible to whichever school(s) they are interested in. While students wait for those to be sent, students should complete that school’s application and have official copies of their transcripts sent to the school(s) they apply to. Students should visit that school’s website to become familiar with their application process, and they should speak with an admissions counselor to see if that school can meet the student’s needs both academically and financially.
CSU advisers will still be available to assist students through July 12. We encourage students to set up an appointment with their CSU advisor as soon as possible. The Registrar’s Office will remain open for 90 days to help facilitate the transfer process.
