Ministry Highlights
On September 10th, we had our Henrietta Commissioning service. Every person committed to the new campus went up to the front at each established campus while our lead pastor prayed for us.
On September 17th, we were supposed to start our practice Sundays or “Soft Launches” before we officially launch in October. Unfortunately, some of our order was in Florida when Hurricane Irma went through. So our soft launch start was delayed by 2 weeks. We will begin on October 1st.
We joined a community group! We meet once a week, discussing the sermon the previous Sunday, and build community with those around us.
This month, I’ve had multiple meetings with different people to discuss how to coordinate the preschool classroom for our Henrietta campus. They have been beneficial and I feel prepared as I plan and organize this new ministry.
Key Prayer Requests
As I mentioned last month, I am a coordinator for the preschool classroom in our children’s ministry. I am a little nervous about this position and leading other adults. I am quite comfortable around kids. I can organize, plan out curriculum, and teach it. As far as leading new volunteers, this is a stretch for me. Pray that I can speak up, be gentle with my words, and lead this wonderful group of ladies well.
We are so close to the official launch of our new campus in Henrietta, NY. There’s a lot to be done still. We received our two trailers full of our equipment on September 30th. Now we need to practice, fix any bumps along the way, and make some final adjustments before we launch on October 15th!
Prominent Lessons
I mentioned this a little bit above, but I am slowly learning the ins and outs of leading a preschool classroom within a church setting. I can plan, organize, and create a schedule of volunteers. I am in a position though where I’m not only leading and teaching the kids, but I’m leading adults. I believe this is going to be a continual learning process for me, but I have started this month realizing I need to step it up in my role. All the background work is finalized, but building relationships with the ladies who volunteer and leading them is a stretch for me. There are people who are looking for me to guide them.
Key Goals for the Next Month
I would like to host one of our community group meetings at our home. I feel that sometimes if you let people into your home, you can create some deeper relationships. You are opening up yourself to others. Community groups are designed to build community, build those relationships. I want to be able to provide the opportunity to get to know the people in our group better.
I would like to build a relationship with one person. Now that we’re about to settle into one campus (and not be moving from one campus to the next – we did so to learn about portable church ministry), I’d like to pick one person to see all the time, to take time out of the week to hang out, and to build a friendship.
