Chaplaincy for Army Reserves in Wyoming; First Baptist Church, Wheatland, Wyoming

James

Key Prayer Requests

Pray that my meeting with the state chaplain will resolve a scheduling conflict that greatly affects one of my internship projects.

Pray for wisdom as I prepare input for the training schedule of 2019.

Pray for my time management in completing this internship along with work and especially family life, there will be times I’m away from them for months at a time. There is also a potential to lose the opportunity to complete one of my projects that has been planned and partially completed, it would be a big help not to have to start a different project in its place.

Prominent Lessons

This month I have learned that the flexibility one is expected to have in the military for the quickly changing events does not exclude the Chaplain. I was asked to provide chaplain support for an Army Resilience briefing at the unit level and when I showed up for the event I found out that I was the only briefer and expected to cover the whole briefing. It really wasn’t a surprise to me but yet challenging to adjust within a few minutes for something I wasn’t expecting.

I’ve had the great opportunity to be raised and associated with a good group of Christians and churches. I learned that another local church, which I would have considered reputable, has a pastor that downplayed the importance of the Bible in a specific situation. It’s hard to learn of such things, and it may only be partially true, but it is a real problem that affects real people and real churches on a continuous basis. The attack on the Word and work of God is real from both inside and outside the church and this is just a reminder that we must be diligent in allowing the Spirit to work in our lives to please God and support the Church and its ministries.

Key Goals for the Next Month

The primary goal of this month is to complete the membership process at the church I am attending.

A goal relating to the first is finalizing my ordination paper to a document to submit to the church to begin the ordination process.

For the military I have a meeting with my State Chaplain to discuss the scheduling conflict affecting one of my projects.
