First-Ever McNeal Scholarship Awarded

Published August 10, 2017

The first-ever recipient of CSU’s Dr. John & Earlene McNeal Scholarship is Chloe Strong of Kansas City, Missouri. Strong has been awarded the full-tuition scholarship, given in partnership with the Fundamental Baptist Fellowship Association based in Kansas.

CSU President Dr. Jim Lytle first introduced the new scholarship at the 2016 FBFA Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. Awarded to a student who regularly attends a FBFA-member church, the scholarship can be used for eight consecutive semesters, provided the student continues in good standing at CSU.

Meet the Scholarship Recipient

Strong, who will begin her undergraduate studies on campus at CSU this fall, met the scholarship requirements such as Christian testimony, financial need and satisfactory academic progress.

“My reaction when I got the scholarship was excitement and shock,” recalls Strong. “My attendance at Clarks Summit University was all based on me getting the scholarship, so when I got the call I was really happy.”

She is most looking forward to getting involved and for classes to start. The 2017 graduate of Oak Park High School has been involved in choir, debate, track and journalism. She also enjoys music, cartoons and art, and her home church is Dynamic Life Baptist Ministries.

Meet the Scholarship Namesakes

Dr. John McNeal is the founding and senior pastor of Atlanta Baptist Bible Church in Atlanta. He has completed 50 years of service as a pastor and 25 years of service as a member of the Board of Trustees of CSU. His wife Earlene McNeal has been a valuable encouragement to both her husband and the CSU family during this long time of service.

The FBFA promotes fellowship between Bible-believing Baptist Churches to foster the spirit of evangelism, spread the gospel and advance the cause of Christ through mutual efforts in Christian education and missions.
